How We Treat
Shockwave Therapy
-
Shockwave therapy is a multidisciplinary device used for fast pain relief and mobility restoration. It achieves this via acoustic waves that penetrate deep into areas of high inflammation and promotes analgesia, regeneration, and reparative processes. More specifically, it stimulates collagen production, dissolves fibroblasts, and disperses substance P(a chemical pain modulator). The most common indicators are knee pain, trigger points, elbow tendinopathy, sequelae of disc herniation, calcified scar tissue, plantar fasciitis, frozen shoulder.

Electric Simulation
-
Muscle contraction, normal tone, and relaxation are controlled via electrochemical signals. Electric stimulation uses many methods to manipulate the electrical portion of these pathways by sending external stimuli to override the body’s aberrant signaling. This results in relaxation of spastic muscles, stimulation of weak muscles, reduction of inflammation, and wound care.

Dry Needling
-
Dry needling is a technique that uses acupuncture needles to dynamically manipulate muscle tissue. It is particularly useful for chronic and acute muscle spasms, trigger points, musculotendinous adhesions, and scar tissue. It is a form of mechanical disruption of muscle or tendinous tissue that is limiting range of motion or function through repetitive insertions of microfilament needles into the affected area. It is generally not a stand-alone treatment.

Massage Therapy
-
Clinical massage therapy goes far above and beyond relaxation. Our therapists are highly skilled in anatomy, muscle manipulation, mobilization, and modalities that include (but are not limited to) active release technique, gua sha, myofascial release, prenatal massage, sports massage, deep tissue massage, hydrotherapy, and reflexology. If prescribed, they are also trained in lymphatic drainage and dynamic stretching. It is a great adjunct therapy for spinal mobilization and rehab.

Ultrasound
-
Therapeutic ultrasound uses mechanical energy through sound waves to penetrate deep into tissues to stimulate circulation of blood and lymph to speed healing of wounds and trauma. It is most commonly used to treat orthopedic injuries, trauma, chromic pain, and inflammation. It also induced thermal changes in the tissue that softens hardened muscle tissue, scar tissue, and aids in repair.

Women's Health Therapy
-
As a naturopathic endocrinologist, it is my specialty to help all women through their hormone cycles and fluctuations. From puberty to menopause, hormone health is imperative to the function of the body and the mind. It is my passion and drive to identify and treat hormone disruptions help women of all ages function optimally. As the backbones of our society it is imperative that all women achieve their dreams of success and fulfillment. Lets work together to recognize issues and recover function.

Fertility And Pregnancy
-
Both men and women face fertility issues. These challenges can effect the physical and emotional state and conventional options can be both expensive and exhausting. I work integratively with OBGYNs and fertility centers across Chicago and Chicagoland areas to increase the chances of conception, as well as the health and vitality of pregnancy. We identify and treat the underlying causes of fertility and pregnancy. Additionally, we follow the pregnancy to successful pregnancy all the way through postnatal care. In our practice, we believe that forming a healthy family is just as important as maintaining

Botanical Medicine & Personalized Botanical Formulas
-
Botanical medicine is the use of plant compounds to alleviate health issues much like pharmaceuticals. In fact, botanical constituents are the ‘grandfathers’ of modern pharmaceutical medicine, except there are no synthetic properties, stabilizers, or fillers that can cause their own adverse effects That is not to say that there aren't significant potential side effects from plant medicine. A licensed naturopathic physician has had over 400hrs in biochemistry and botanical medicine and are highly trained in utilizing this method of treatment. These treatments only follow testing and a thorough naturopathic intake. It may accompany supplementation such as vital vitamins and minerals.

Acupuncture
-
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medical modality. It employs microfilament needles to hone and control energy flowing through the energy channels known as meridians. Diagnosis and treatment is based on identifying the excesses and deficiencies within these channels that control mental and other organ function. The needles use acupuncture points as gates to access these channels much like circuit breakers on an electrical system, opening and closing them as needed. This controls the amount and intensity of the flow of energy. Acupuncture is most commonly used for systemic issues such as anxiety/depression, migraines/headaches, spastic or weak musculature, fertility/conception/delivery, and addiction. Other common uses include musculoskeletal issues such as sciatica and pain modulation. Acupuncture needles are typically so small that they are undetectable during treatment, with the only common side effects being bruising, minor bleeding, and soreness around the site of insertion.

Functional Medicine
-
Functional medicine is a holistic approach to chronic, complex, and multifaceted health issues. Laboratory testing is an integral part of identifying the root cause of these issues that include food allergy testing, heavy metal testing, comprehensive blood testing, and hormone panels. The most common areas of treatment include autoimmune conditions, gastrointestinal upset, chronic pain conditions, hormone imbalances, and brain dysfunction. It can also be used to optimize a healthy individual’s life. We can use laboratory testing and interpretation during times of chronic illness and health during the gaining process.

Laboratory Testing
-
We utilize an array of labs to help best identify the root cause of disease. These labs are reviewed thoroughly by all practitioners assigned to your case to best treat any health issues. These labs include: Cell Sciences, ELISA, Genova, LabCorp Testing, Spectra cell, Doctors Data, Diagnostic Solutions, Cyrex, Great Plains,

Telehealth
-
Telehealth is a great option for those that are home-bound or need functional & naturopathic consultations and interpretations. We use a HIPPA- secure platform to connect with you virtually in the comfort of your own home. Common types of care commonly addressed with Telehealth include: Lab and Imaging results, treatment plan reviews and supplement/botanical prescriptions, skin conditions, immune issues, physical therapy exercises, post-treatment follow up, and counseling.

Spinal Decompression
-
A special table uses a tailored pulling mechanism to gently stretch the spine and surrounding musculature to take pressure off of a nerve. It also aids in reducing force on the spine and the intervertebral discs. It is most effective for discogenic pain such as sciatica and cervical radiculopathy. This is a great option to avoid surgery or a great option for those that are not candidates for surgery.

Cox Flexion-Distraction
-
Flexion Distraction uses a pulling and bending method used by chiropractors to decrease pressure on the intervertebral discs, and opens the facet joints (the space in the vertebrae where the nerves exit and innervate the various tissues of the body). This relieves nerve pain, improves range of motion, and increases functional performance. Pregnant mothers particularly enjoy this technique because it helps combat the forced extension due to the growing fetus.

Cupping And Gua Sha
-
Cupping and Gua sha are both Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities that are use to improve blood flow and to reduce adhesion in muscle tissue. Bringing blood flow to affected tissues speeds the healing process by reducing inflammation and supplying oxygen and nutrients. The difference is in the application: one involves a vacuum effect to “suck up” the arterial blood and one uses a scraping technique to comb through adhesions.

Naturopathic Counseling
-
As with conventional counseling, naturopathic counseling aims to improve the overall well-being of our patients. Naturopathic counseling, however, believes in coaching the mind to re-establish its ability to control and heal the body. Indications for the use of naturopathic counseling include tremors, trauma, hypertension, depressed feelings, feelings of nervousness, migraine, insomnia, addiction, chronic fatigue syndrome, amongst many more. It should be made aware that naturopathic counseling is not covered by many insurances, and may take up to and hour to reach a treatment plan.

McKenzie Method
-
McKenzie method is a series of exercises that reset disc herniations and bulges in the spine that cause discomfort and pain. It works to gradually mobilize the spinal joints and to gently “push” the disc into its correct placement between vertebrae, removing it from the areas where it abrades the nerves. It is only to be used in pts with discogenic issues, however, it can also be used to help mobilize other joints in the body such as shoulders and knees. It is commonly used as a home exercise program in conjunction with chiropractic treatments and physical therapy.
